The lovely Alison, who got married this Summer, asked me to make one of my Moonlit Hare pearl necklaces for her and she very kindly sent me a few pictures of her special day...

Mayflower collection continued...

Well it seems Autumn has started to creep in...it's not quite hit us full force but is slowly starting to show it's hand.  Maybe it's this that has increased my obsession with all things leaf shaped?

I've added a couple of new pieces to my Mayflower collection which have been added to Etsy this evening.  Take a peek.

RESIDENTS - August Exhibition

Our latest show down at Such and Such opened last night, thanks to everyone who made it along.  The exhibition runs until the 11th of September.

Here's a couple of images of my new pieces.  For more pictures of the show check out our Facebook page HERE

"Each of Charlotte’s works are pieces of a larger narrative exploring the way in which we use our surroundings, especially those of a domestic, personal nature, to store the objects and memories that are precious to us. Often using found fragments and patterns as a starting point she alters and rebuilds them to highlight our own fragility."

Back to Silver

When I used to work on Islay, the track to the studio was lined with beautiful mayflower hedges. These earrings are part of a range I've been meaning to make for ages now inspired by them.

They have been sat at the side of my bench for quite a while so this morning, feeling a little sorry for them, I decided it was about time they got finished!

The earrings have a continuous integrated hook, a style of earring I love to wear, and have been given a lovely frosted matt finish.

Paper Pyramids: Experiment No.2

Disintegrating with age, each fold of the chalky surface gave way.  Yellow, orange, and white.  Paper pollen on fingertips.

Au Boutique - New Additions

I was in Glasgow last week and dropped in a few pieces, some of which you can see below, to the lovely Au Boutique.  I can't believe they are coming up to their first birthday already.  It's an amazing space and showcases a wide and diverse range of jewellery from lots of different designers, If you like your jewellery but are looking for something just that little bit special I highly recommend you pay them a visit!

Design Market 15-17th July

Looking for something interesting to do this weekend?  Why not head down to the Fruitmarket Gallery and check this out...

Salt Pyramids: Experiment No.1

I've been busy experimenting with casting some tiny salt crystals which form in these amazing shapes. They look like tiny models of the crumbling Pyramids and when clustered together create a really interesting surface, almost like clusters of bizarre barnacles.

These little guys are now heading off to be cast in silver.  Hopefully they will turn out and I can start getting some designs out of the sketch book.

MalMaison Fair

Well it was an early start getting everything ready for today but I managed to get everything down to the shore for the market with the help of fellow Such and Sucher's Caroline and Dave.

We were so lucky with the weather and there was a great selection of stalls selling tasty local produce alongside some jewellery and prints.

Thanks to everyone who made it along!

McEtsy

I recently joined up to McEtsy a group on Etsy for Scottish designers and makers on the site.  I have also just discovered their blog which is full of great stories and links relating to the group members. The links to everyone's individual blogs are brilliant too, spent quite a bit of time looking at what everyone's been up to! Have a wee peek HERE.

Etsy Treasuries - Islay Summers

Ok so may be procrastinating a little and may also have made myself a little homesick.  Here's my latest treasury on Etsy. (making them is a little addictive.)

I have also listed a couple of new pieces so I've done some work too!

Ring Design

Here's a few pics of a recent piece.  The design was inspired by rough, weathered boards and coastal images of boats in the harbour from my time in Pittenweem.  I came across some photos I had taken when I was working at the Arts Festval last year and felt it was time to use them...

Updates...

New on the website today is a gallery of images, so you can have a wee browse at past and present pieces...enjoy!

Change around

Ok so you may have noticed that things are looking a wee bit different on the blog...just felt the need for a wee tidy, much happier with the clean look.

It's been pouring down all day here which is a shame as today is the gala day for the leith festival, hopefully it won't put too many of you off, (at least the trees are prepared for the weather!)

Last night down at the studio we had the opening for "Anomal" a new exhibiton by recent Duncan of Jordanstone Illustration graduates Al White and Jamie Johnson.  Thanks to everyone who made it along for a look.  Also very impressed with those who have ventured out this morning to catch the show.  It runs until the 19th so if you get the chance it's well worth a visit.

Back from my holidays

Sorry it's been a bit quiet of late on here, I've been back home on Islay for a wee break which involved lots of walking, cycling and eating!

I also had the chance to drop in to Elizabeth Sykes Batiks.  I used to work for Liz on and off for a few years at the studio/gallery and loved every minute of it (even folding the many stacks of cards.)  I must admit I probably distracted them for a little too long catching up on all the local news.

Alongside her stunning Batik work Liz sells a small range of my jewellery including this piece below, so if you are around on the island, perhaps for the upcoming whisky festival, why not pop in and have a look.  (I can highly recommend the coffee and shortbread too!)

Another lovely evening at Such and Such...

Thought I'd share a few pics of our lovely studio down off Leith walk, such a joy to be in there with the lovely evening sunshine and the trees outside springing back to life.
