Well after weeks of barely any sleep and
many evenings spent painting things white, Such and Such opens it's doors to the world with a collection of new jewellery, prints and projections.

Studio Evolution

Well for the past year now I've been working from a wee studio in ArtsComplex near Meadowbank stadium and whilst it's been fun it's time for a new venture...

I'll be moving into a brand spanking new, shared space called Such and Such.  An empty shop on Brunswick Street as part of a collaborative project between myself, Caroline Cloughley, Alexandra Fiddes and David Lemm.

This new space will be part studio, part gallery and will allow us to both exhibit and create within the same place.

To keep up to date with what's going on check out suchandsuchstudio.blogspot.co.uk

New studio complete with a new workbench made by my Dad (thanks Dad!)  Best part is it's been made from old wood from a distillery back home, some of which still smells like whisky.

ArtsComplex Show

George's Imprint

The house was the last standing of what was once a busy herring fishing port on Islay.  Over the years it has been a source of inspiration for much of my work.  Left empty for the past fifteen, it has sat alone on the exposed coast slowly weathering away.

On the verge of collapse, the house was recently demolished.  This rubbing is an attempt to record and preserve a small piece of it.  One final intimate act and conversation between us.  But like the house itself and the memories associated with it, the image is fragile and fragmented.

This piece will be showing during the ArtsComplex launch exhibition this month.
